60mm pvc pipe

60mm pvc pipe (outer diameter of about 60.3mm, in line with ISO standards) is a plastic pipe made of polyvinyl chloride (Polyvinyl Chloride) as the main raw material. It has the characteristics of lightweight, corrosion resistance, and easy installation. It is a commonly used pipe in the fields of building drainage, electrical wiring, agricultural irrigation, etc. According to the wall thickness, it can be divided into light (pressure ≤0.6MPa) and heavy (pressure ≥1.0MPa). Users need to choose according to actual needs.

Core characteristics and advantages

Strong corrosion resistance

PVC material can resist acid, alkali, salt and most chemical solvents. It is suitable for corrosive environments such as industrial wastewater discharge and laboratory drainage. The service life can reach more than 50 years.

Lightweight and easy to construct

The weight of 60mm pipe is only 1/5 of that of steel pipe of the same specification. It supports manual cutting (special scissors or saw blades are required), and various connection methods (gluing, flange, clamp, etc.) are available, which greatly reduces the installation cost.

Low fluid resistance

The inner wall is smooth (roughness coefficient is only 0.009), the conveying efficiency is 30% higher than that of metal pipes, it is not easy to accumulate scale, and the flow rate is stable in long-term use.

Outstanding economic efficiency

The price is about 1/3 of galvanized steel pipes, and the maintenance cost is extremely low, with significant comprehensive cost performance.

60mm pvc pipe application scenarios

Building drainage system

Indoor sewage pipe: 60mm specification is often used for branch drainage pipes on residential floors (such as kitchen and sink drainage).

Rainwater discharge: Suitable for roof rainwater gutters, UV-resistant models can be installed outdoors.

Electrical engineering

As a cable protection pipe, it can be pre-buried in the wall or underground, with good insulation performance (voltage resistance ≥ 2kV), effectively preventing short circuit.

Agriculture and gardening

Drip irrigation system: 60mm main pipe can be connected to 16mm branch pipe to achieve large-scale water-saving irrigation.

Greenhouse ventilation: After drilling, it can be used as a ventilation pipe to adjust temperature and humidity.

Industrial use

Chemical workshop waste liquid transportation, ventilation and dust removal pipes, etc., need to use acid and alkali resistant UPVC material.

Key selection parameters

Parameter Standard Value (Example Brand) Test Standard
Outer Diameter 60.3 ± 0.3 mm GB/T 5836.1-2018
Wall Thickness 2.0 mm (Light Duty) / 3.0 mm (Heavy Duty) ISO 1452-2
Compressive Strength ≥12 MPa (Heavy Duty) ASTM D1785
Operating Temperature Range 0℃~45℃ (up to 60℃ short-term) EN 1401-1

Selection suggestions:

Heavy-duty pipes are preferred for drainage in high-rise buildings, which are more resistant to water hammer impact.

In cold areas, attention should be paid to low-temperature brittleness issues, and it is recommended to use antifreeze modified PVC.

60mm pvc pipe Installation precautions

Cutting and deburring

Use a rotary pipe cutter to ensure that the section is vertical, and use sandpaper to polish the burrs to prevent loose glue joints.

Adhesive connection steps

Clean the pipe mouth and the fitting socket, and apply special PVC glue (such as Goldfish brand PVC-U adhesive).

After insertion, rotate 90° to evenly distribute the glue, and let it stand for 30 minutes before passing water.

Expansion joint setting

Expansion joints should be installed every 4 meters of straight pipe sections to avoid deformation due to thermal expansion and contraction.

FAQ

Q: Can 60mm PVC pipe be used for hot water?

A: Conventional PVC pipes have limited heat resistance. Long-term hot water transportation (>45℃) requires CPVC (chlorinated polyvinyl chloride) pipes.

Q: How to identify inferior pipes?

A: Inferior pipes often have the following characteristics:

Yellowish color (new material should be milky white)

Uneven wall thickness (measure multiple points with a caliper)

Pungent black smoke when burning (qualified products will extinguish as soon as they are away from the fire)

60mm PVC pipe has become a basic material for modern engineering due to its versatility and economy. Correct selection and standardized construction are the key to its performance. It is recommended that users give priority to products certified by GB/T 5836 to ensure quality.
