Bending radius limits for different types of pipes

1. Polyethylene pipes: According to national standards, the allowable bending radius of polyethylene pipes during laying should not be less than 25 times the nominal diameter. When there are socket fittings on the bent pipe section, this limit is increased to no less than 125 times the nominal diameter to ensure that the pipe will not be damaged by excessive stress during the bending process.

2. Steel skeleton polyethylene composite pipe: The bending radius limit for this type of pipe is more complicated and depends on the nominal diameter of the pipe. Generally speaking, pipes with a nominal diameter between 50 and 150 mm are allowed to have a bending radius of 80 times the nominal diameter; pipes with a nominal diameter between 150 and 300 mm are allowed to have a bending radius of 100 times the nominal diameter; and so on. There are specific regulations to ensure the safety of pipes when bending.

The impact of bending radius on pipe performance

Too small a bending radius will cause excessive stress in the pipe at the bend, thereby increasing the risk of pipe rupture and leakage. In addition, too small a bending radius may also affect the flow state of the fluid in the pipe, leading to problems such as increased fluid resistance and reduced flow. Therefore, in practical applications, the restrictions on HDPE pipe bending radius must be strictly observed.
