In the use of municipal potable water supply since the 1970s, high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe has become the ideal material for piping systems used to transport drinking water. As a tough and resilient material capable of lasting 100 years or more with minimal maintenance, HDPE Water Supply Pipe has proven to be superior to many other piping materials as a means of transporting and distributing potable water. HDPE pipes’ long service life and low maintenance costs, coupled with its’ capability of being installed with a variety of trench-less technologies, lead it to the lowest life cycle costs of any potable water piping system.
Description of blue stripe pipe for water
HDPE pressure black blue stripe pipe for water is a pipe material made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and is widely used in water supply systems. The role of the blue stripe on the HDPE water supply pipe is mainly to identify and distinguish the pipe type, helping engineers quickly identify the pipe type during installation and maintenance. The use of this identification line is a common practice internationally, aiming to improve construction efficiency and safety.
Advantages
The advantages of HDPE water supply pipes are its smooth inner wall and non-adhesive properties, which ensures its high conveying capacity while reducing the pressure loss and water delivery energy consumption of the pipeline. Compared with traditional concrete pipes, galvanized pipes and steel pipes, HDPE pipes are lighter and easier to carry and install, which greatly reduces the demand for manpower and equipment, as well as the installation cost of the project. HDPE pipes also support a variety of construction methods, including traditional excavation methods and innovative trenchless technologies, such as jacking, directional drilling, lining, cracking pipe, etc., which are particularly suitable for places where excavation is not allowed.
Production process
The production of HDPE water pipes is based on PE resin, which is a material made by the polymerization of monomer ethylene. During the polymerization process, due to different reaction conditions such as pressure and temperature, resins of different densities can be produced, including high-density polyethylene, medium-density polyethylene and low-density polyethylene. According to the specific application conditions, the appropriate resin grade is selected, and the requirements of the extruder and mold are adjusted accordingly to ensure the performance and quality of the pipe.
