Sewage line

Sewage line refers to the piping system used to discharge municipal sewage. ‌ The sewage piping system is composed of pipes and auxiliary structures for collecting and transporting municipal sewage. The sewage flows from branch pipes into main pipes, then into main pipes, and finally into ‌ the sewage treatment plant. From small to large, the distribution of pipelines is similar to a river, in the shape of branches, and the circulation of the water supply network is completely different. Sewage in the pipeline generally flows from high to low by the water surface difference at both ends of the pipeline, and the pipeline does not bear pressure inside, that is, it flows by gravity.

Definition of sewage pipes

Sewage pipes are used to centrally treat wastewater generated in residential and industrial areas and then put it into sewage treatment plants or directly discharge it into rivers and lakes. It is an important infrastructure to ensure the sanitation of the city and the health of residents and is also an important part of environmental protection.

The role of sewage pipes

1. Maintenance of public and environmental health

The sewage pipeline can effectively collect, treat, and discharge the sewage and waste from urban life, curb the pollution of soil and groundwater by garbage and sewage, and maintain the public environment and health. Without the treatment of sewage pipes, the city will become a place of foul odor and sanitation, which can cause adverse effects and even health threats to the people who live there.

2. Protect the health and safety of the people

Sewage pipes can effectively treat and discharge sewage and waste, avoiding health problems caused by direct discharge of sewage and waste. For example, untreated sewage contains a lot of domestic garbage, bacteria, and other harmful substances that, if discharged improperly, will threaten the health and life safety of residents. The construction of sewage pipes can make these harmful substances be effectively treated and discharged, so as to protect the health and life safety of the people.

Types of sewage pipes

1. Household sewage pipe

Household sewage pipe refers to the sewage drainage pipe system connecting each household and the public sewage pipe. Each household has its own sewer line, which drains sewage into the plumbing system. These include kitchen and bathroom plumbing. Household sewage pipes can effectively control and manage the sewage produced by a single family, ensuring that it becomes an environmentally friendly means of discharge.

2. Public sewage pipes

The public sewage pipe refers to the centralized large-scale sewage discharge pipe system. It is the sewage generated by many households and industrial sewage collected together into the sewage network and unified treatment of the pipeline system. Public sewerage pipelines require stable and reliable operation and require regular maintenance and renewal.

Material selection

The commonly used materials for sewage pipes include PVC, HDPE, concrete, fiberglass stainless steel, etc.

1.‌PVC material‌ is widely used in sewage pipes because of its cheap price, wide application range, impact resistance, and chemical resistance. PVC pipe has the advantages of simple process, low cost, low resistance, and good performance in environmental protection, water leakage prevention, and corrosion resistance.

2. HDPE Sewage Pipe:‌ It is used for thermoplastic round pipes without internal pressure. It is widely used for drainage tasks such as rainwater, sewage, farmland drainage, and irrigation, and has the advantages of corrosion resistance, good sealing property, light weight, and strong impact resistance.

3.‌ concrete ‌ is also a common choice, especially in infrastructure projects where concrete pipes are used for their durability and relatively low cost.

4.‌ glass fiber reinforced plastic‌ because of its excellent corrosion resistance and mechanical strength, is suitable for chemical wastewater treatment and other highly corrosive occasions.

5.‌ stainless steel‌ because of its corrosion resistance, high strength, and long life, it is suitable for some sewage treatment and transportation pipelines with high material requirements and harsh environments.
